Summer is definitely on the wane and the Autumn chill is in the air. I don't know about you guys but the longer shadows and shorter days herald somewhat of a hibernation at Life of Grime HQ in the evenings and weekends.
Certainly, the choice on the TV gets better and whether you're a fan of Strictly or the Champions League there's definitely more reasons to curl up on the couch than venture out into the cold and wet. Sunday has already gotten better and if the latest episodes from our menacing friends from the black country are anything to go by, we might be spoiled for viewing choice this winter.
Our eating habits at LOG HQ also change at this time of year. The BBQ, which takes a real hammering over the summer, is now no more than a garden decoration (which reminds me I must get someone in to clean it).
With a busy family life though, often Sunday is the only day of the week we eat dinner together round the table and big comfort food is always the order for Sunday dinner during the colder months. Steak pie, roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and of course roast chicken dinner are the usual rotations. And, like the BBQ during summer months, the oven works hard from round about now.
There can be surely nothing better than coming home from a chilly beach walk to a cosy house and the gorgeous smell of Sunday dinner tantalising the senses. Unless of course you've neglected to clean the oven since last winter and instead of opening the door to the aroma of golden roast potatoes, you are left gasping with eyes streaming from the acrid fumes of your billowing oven.
If your reality is the latter, then as perhaps Arthur would advise were he in the business, get it cleaned now...by order of The Peaky Blinders!
